New York Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2017

September 18, 2016

New York Fashion Week has been and gone, and London Fashion Week is already well under way. With everything from the mysterious Yeezy Season 4 to Bella Hadid falling on the runway, NYFW was as eventful as ever. Body diversity was seen like never before, particularly at the Ashley Graham x Addition Elle lingerie show, where models such as Jordyn Woods walked the runway.

This year, the likes of Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid, and Alexander Wang experimented with the new "see now, buy now" concept. Traditionally, consumers have to wait months before they can get their hands on runway looks. Even then, it's up to department store buyers to decide what hits the shops and what doesn't. To compete with high street stores such as Zara, who sell runway inspired looks at a fraction of the cost, designers have come up with this new way to give their customers what they want, when they want it. Is this a genius new idea, or do we all just need to slow down?

Marc Jacobs ended fashion week with a bang. Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Sara Sampaio and more strutted the runway with multicoloured dreadlocks and platforms that were impossibly high. In an effort to cheer up America, during a pretty grim election, the designer did something no one else did. He organised one big rave.
